Emory Votes Initiative

As Communications Team Lead for Emory Votes Initiative, I developed and executed digital content strategies designed to increase voter education, civic engagement, and student participation in elections. Over three years, I managed social media campaigns, created graphics and video content, analyzed performance metrics, and collaborated with campus and community partners to communicate critical voting information to thousands of students. The projects below highlight a selection of campaigns and content that supported Emory Votes Initiative's mission of empowering students to become informed and engaged participants in democracy.

Developing a Visual Style Guide

As Communications Team Lead, I identified an opportunity to create greater visual consistency across Emory Votes Initiative's digital platforms. Because content was being created by multiple team members over several academic years, branding and design choices often varied between campaigns. To address this challenge, I developed a comprehensive visual style guide that established standards for typography, color usage, graphic layouts, logo placement, and social media templates.

The guide served as a centralized resource for current and future team members, enabling the creation of content that was immediately recognizable, visually cohesive, and aligned with the organization's mission. The style guide streamlined content production and strengthened Emory Votes Initiative's overall brand identity across Instagram and other digital channels.

Informational Graphics

During the early voting period in October of 2024, I noticed a recurring challenge among student voters: many were unsure of what to expect when arriging at the polls and what steps they should take to ensure a smooth voting experience. As the emory votes staff got more and more questions from first-time voters, I recognized an opportunity to create a resource that would address common questions in a clear, accessible and highly shareable format.

I developed the concept for a “Voting Do’s and Don’ts” guide and collaborated with team members to gather accurate information and identify the most frequently asked questions. The resulting graphic distilled complex voting procedures into concise, visually engaging guidance that students could easily reference and share with their peers.

The graphic remains pinned on the @emoryvotes Instagram account as a lasting resource for future voters.
